-
02.07.2005: The reunion did really happen at the
Live 8 concert in London. Pink Floyd played Breathe, Money, Wish You
Were Here and Comfortably Numb. Some statements from Nick regarding
the reunion:
- "Why did we reform? It's a damn good way of spending a weekend."
- "I'm not feeling too nervous. Hopefully we'll be able to remember
most of the words!"
- "It's sort of assumed that we'll all remember how they go..."
- "Roger and Bob have enormous respect for each other; the two
of them together are a bit like Hitler and Stalin with a better sense
of humour, and in Bob's case, worse hair."
- "What we're playing? Pink Floyd songs. We tried to work up
some Deep Purple, but it didn't seemed to suit us somehow."
- David: "Well, it was a bit like sleeping with your ex-wife."
- 12.06.2005: Roger Wates reunites with Pink Floyd for Bob Geldorf's
Live8 Konzert. David Gilmour made the following statement:
"Like most people I want to do everything I can to persuade
the G8 leaders to make huge commitments to the relief of poverty and
increased aid to the third world. It's crazy that America gives such
a paltry percentage of its GNP to the starving nations. Any squabbles
Roger and the band have had in the past are so petty in this context,
and if re-forming for this concert will help focus attention then it's
got to be worthwhile." Roger said: "It's great to
be asked to help Bob raise public awareness on the issues of third world
debt and poverty. The cynics will scoff, screw 'em! Also, to be given
the opportunity to put the band back together, even if it's only for
a few numbers, is a big bonus." Nick said: "I think
a bit like the original Live Aid - what one would like, is for it to
be utterly memorable; for everyone who was there to remember it as a
really important and great event. " Asked, what numbers they're
gonna play he replied "Hopefully they'll be fairly slow numbers,
because at my advanced stage I don't want anything too fast!"
The complete interview with Nick can be found here.

from Floydstuff.
- 17.10.2002: Roger appeared at the Whip Craic concert at London's Royal
Albert Hall. He played WYWH, FF and CN. Nearly the whole ITF-tour band
(2002 lineup except Norbert) was on stage. Before the set a 5 minute
overture from Ca Ira was performed by the London Symphonic Orchestra.
Simon and Phil (who provided
these news) have pictures.
- 10.10.2002: Roger opened the set of the Music To My Ears concerts
in Boston and New York. Setlist in Boston was: CN (together with Don
Henley), WYWH and Flickering Flame. In New York he started with WYWH,
followed by FF and CN (together with Don Henley). Later he joined in
at both shows with the other musicians for the two encores (This Train/Every
Day People). Simon and Phil
have pictures from the NY concert at MSG.
- 30.09.2002: In addition to the two "Music To My Ears" shows Roger
Waters is confirmed to play at the Royal Albert Hall in London on 16th
October. He will be part of a charity show in in Aid of the Countryside
Alliance. The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra will give the premier performance
of the Overture from Roger Waters' opera, Ca Ira. In addition, Roger
and his band will play 2 songs with the RPO. Visit www.intheflesh2002.com
to read a statement by Roger in which he explains why he is taking part
in this disputed charity show.
- 13.09.2002: Roger Waters made a small appearance at Jeff Beck's concerts
at London's Royal Festival Hall. Together with Jeff Beck and his band
which included Jennifer Batten, Terry Bozzio and Tony Hymas, he performed
"What God Wants" Parts 1 and 3. He was also accompanied by Andy Fairweather-Low,
Katie Kissoon, P.P. Arnold and Carol Kenyon. The performance was tight
and well received by the audience, however, Roger obviously had trouble
remembering the words, as he read the lyrics to What God Wants Part
3 from sheet of paper! He also performed the same songs on the second
of Jeff Beck's three shows at The Royal Festival Hall (this time with
the lyric-sheet fixed on the floor). Roger's ITF-Band (except Norbert
Stachel) attended the gig on the 13th in the audience, including India
Waters.
Roger Waters is expected to perform two more shows this year in the
US. Roger Waters will also be part of the two "Music to my Ears"- charity
shows to benefit the family of late Billboard editor in chief Timothy
White in the USA this October. The shows will take place at the Fleet
Center in Boston (7th October) and the Madison Square Garden (8th October)
in New York. The Boston lineup also features Billy Joel, Sheryl Crow,
Don Henley, John Mellencamp, Sting, and James Taylor; those artists,
minus Taylor and Joel, will also play in New York along with Jimmy Buffett
and Brian Wilson.
- 27.06.2002: A small reunion has happened: NICK MASON played drums
on STCFTHOTS Roger's Wembley show yesterday!
- 24.05.2002: After enjoying a couple of Roger's shows here in Germany
I've added a section with changes in the show compared to the ITF DVD
and the shows in 1999.
- 04.05.2002: The European leg of the tour has started. Simon reports
that Linda Lewis has been replaced by Carol Kenyon, who shared recently
the stage with a certain David Gilmour in London and Paris and appeared
on Pink Floyd's Division Bell album.
- 29.04.2002: Flickering
Flame has been released in Germany today. It says on the cover "Will
NOT play on PC/MAC" (in english). On the slipcase is a sticker,
repeating it in German. So they really try to keep it limited. ;-) In
fact there are 13 tracks on the CD(-ROM). The 13th track is a hidden
data track, confusing most CD-ROM drives. It has been written as a 2nd
session, normal CD-players can't see.... The protection itself is ridiculous.
Of course it's very easy to bypass the protection... ;-)
- 15.04.2002: ITF DVD has finally been released in Germany... What
a sound. Best concert-DVD I've heard so far...
- 07.03.2002: The concert in Chile was attended by 65.000 fans... what
a little intimate tour....;-)
- 27.02.2002: Reports from the first concert of the tour (Capetown)
reveal a surprising change in the setlist. Each Small Candle was
dropped from the setlist and the new song Flickering Flame was
played instead.
- 17.10.2001: Roger announces world tour on German press conference.
He thinks "The other Pink Floyd members are too old to go on tour" ;-)

Show-Changes from 2006 European-leg of the tour and onwards
Roger updated the show in the few weeks between the European and the US-leg (and the following 2007 tour) of his tour a lot. Here's a quick summery:
- The lights are now done by Marc Brickmann. Brickman did the lightning for the Wall shows and the following Pink Floyd tours. Before this US tour he did the lights for a certain Mr. David Gilmour on his 2006 tour. The lights on the European leg of the tour have been regarded as boring by many fans.
- There are now a lot of Vari-Lights above the stage. As on Gilmour's tour you can see now 3 columns with Vari-Lights on each side of the band in the height of the band members
- The projection screen in the back has been replaced by a large LED-Screen
- Mr. Screen is gone. :-( Obviously due to the new LED screen Mr. screen had to stay away with his Vari-Lights which have been used only to a very small extend at the European leg of the tour.
- There's a flying pig again. Rogers sprays messages on the pig before the show. During Sheep the pig is pulled by two roadies, dressed als slaugthers, throug the hall. At outdoor shows the pig is usually let of in the sky at the end of the song.
- During STCFTHOTS (soap)bubbles come from stage.
- There a several new images and animations in the back during the first set. The cartoons during Leaving Beirut remain unchanged
- The Setlist remains unchanged.
- from the Hollywood Bowl Shows on theres a flying prism above the stage, lit with a clear white beam from the left side and the rainbow colour laser-beams from the right side, we knwo from the DSOTM cover.
- the huge LED screen is now used to show close-ups of the band members on certain songs.
- the show aktually starts with the house-lights still beeing on. If you enter the venue, the LED-screen shows an old radio. Ca. ten minutes before the band enteres the stage, this picture turns into a litlle movie. Someone is is switching channels on the radio, smoking, drinking and pills are taken. During the show this radio turns out to be in the hotel room of a rock star (we know that story...). It is used as a link between certain songs (WYWH, HAC etc).

Changes in the show since 2000
Here's a small list of changes I've noticed, which have changed since the
1999 and 2000 shows.
- General: The Pani-projectors have been replaced by video-projectors
in 2002. It's now possible to show moving images (not only sliding images).
- General: A lot of the slow sliding projections remain (like during
DOGS or Time).
- General: There are no TV-sets on stage anymore showing Kubrick movies
during the show.
- General: Every single movement on stage (including the breathing frequency
of the backing vocalists) has been choreographed. Roger does the same
steps and gestures every evening at the same time and place.
- General: The sofa for the girls has been replaced by chairs, the design
of the living-room lamps has changed.
- Setlist: The Thin Ice, ABITW Pt.1, What God Wants and the Powers That
Be were only in 1999 part of the setlist. STCFTHOTS, TBOBOOR and ESC
were added for the 2000 tour. In 2002 Flickering Flame replaced ESC
as last encore for most of the shows. SOYCS is now played in two parts
(1-5 and 6-9).
- Musicians: Jon Carin is replaced by Harry Waters (Roger's son) for
the current tour. Doyle Bramhall II has been replaced by Chester Kamen.
His wife Susannah Melvoin was replaced by Linda Lewis for the first
leg of the 2002 world-tour and Carol Kenyon for the 2nd leg in Europe.
- ITF: The firework, used in the outdoor stadium shows, isn't used in
the European indoor shows.
- ITF: The huge marching hammers from the Wall movie are projected on
the big screen as an animated movie. Looks very impressive.
- POTW: A fantastic movie of the pig, flying over Battersea Power station,
shot from a helicopter is shown.
- WTTM: The old circular concert-movie is shown entirely.
- STCFTHOTS: Snowy doesn't use his Gold Top anymore. He now plays a
black Fender, which results in different sound effects. He can't switch
between different pick-ups anymore. B/W picture-projections of the band
fooling around on a beach in the late 60s are followed by a short film
(in colour), of the band, walking through a field with a scarecrow.
Roger is falling in the corn-field with a bottle of champagne in his
hand...
- Money: The classic circular Money-movie is shown, projected on a record
player, playing a spinning DSOTM record. The movie has nude ladies,
power-boots, race-horses, lots of coins and a starting Concord
- TBOBOOR: The TV-sets are now showing well-known TV-snippets from CNN's
gulf war times: laser guided bombs (really great for righting wrongs)
hitting their targets, Tornados at low-level flights, B52s dropping
napalm-bombs etc. At the end you can see George Bush on the TV-screens.
He remains there for a couple of seconds as the rest of the picture
fades out and the song is over...
- Perfect Sense Pt. 2: There's an animated BIG explosion in the screen
after the oil-rig has been attacked.
- ATD: Someone (Norbert) is forced to run over the stage with a flashlight.
Roger must have seen Bono doing this on the last U2 tour...
- ATD: The monkey is really watching TV. There are scenes from 2001
(?) and TV-selling shows.
- ATD: You can see Alf Razzell talking about Bill Hubbard. The interview
with him is projected on a picture of the memorial to the missing at
Aras.
- Comfortably Numb: Major lightning effect at the line ...just a
little pin-prick. Chester hits a note and the living-room lamp behind
him turns on!!!
Roger Waters - In The Flesh Finally available here in German. The best
concert DVD I've heart so far. They're really USING the 5.1 mix.
